Obama Diagnoses Mitt With Romnesia

President Obama coins new phrase to describe Mitt Romney's changing positions.

There's good news and bad news for Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney. First, the trending status has declined for "binders full of women." But it's been replaced by a new phrase President Obama coined on the campaign trail Friday: Romnesia, a condition that causes a person to frequently change positions for political expediency.
"Mr. Severely Conservative wants you to think he was severely kidding about everything he said over the last year," Obama said to cheers at a campaign rally held at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. “I mean, he’s changing up so much and backtracking and sidestepping, we’ve got to name this condition that he’s going through. I think it’s called Romnesia. That’s what it’s called. I think that’s what he’s going through.”

The symptoms, according to Obama, include expressing support for women's access to contraceptives but also endorsing legislation that would allow employers to deny insurance coverage for contraceptives.

“If you say that you’re a champion of the coal industry when, while you were governor you stood in front of a coal plant and said, this plant will kill you, that’s some Romnesia,” he continued, as the crowd joined him at the punch line.

The hashtag #Romnesia was trending worldwide on Twitter throughout the day. In addition, Romnesia has its own Facebook page, courtesy of MoveOn.Org, "to call out" Romney for pretending to have forgotten previous stances, the organization said.

Obama, who clearly loves a good joke, especially when it's coming from him, gleefully announced that there's a cure.

“And if you come down with a case of Romnesia, and you can't seem to remember the policies that are still on your website or the promises you've made over the six years you've been running for president, here's the good news: Obamacare covers preexisting conditions! We can fix you up! We've got a cure!” he told the roaring crowd.
