Ja Rule Speaks From Behind Bars
Ja Rule, who is currently seven months in to a 20-month jail sentence for gun charges, called in to VladTV from behind bars recently to discuss his legal situation. In the interview, Ja shed light on why his gun charge led to a longer prison sentence than the one Lil Wayne received in 2010, despite the fact that the two rappers were arrested in the same 2007 police raid.
The 35-year-old rapper said that although both he and Weezy were charged with "attempted gun possession," in Wayne's case the gun was registered, while the one associated with his charge was not.
"The difference between me and Weezy's case is, his gun was actually registered... My gun, the serial number was scratched off, so it came with a little more time," Ja Rule said.
The former Murder Inc. rapper added that, all things considered, he was taking his sentence in stride.
"I ain't mad about the amount of time that I got," he said. "I'm here doing my time and it could've been worse... after 13 months [I'll be] back on my grizzly."
Though he planned to release his seventh studio album, Pain Is Love 2, before he began his prison stint, the project has since been delayed with an indefinite release date. The Queens MC has kept himself busy though, by releasing a new song since his incarceration and he’s penned a letter to fans where he touched on the topic of suicide in prison.
