On this day in 1970, legendary singer and songwriter Mariah Carey was born in Huntington, NY. Carey, best known for her five-octave vocal range, first wowed audiences with her breakout hit, “Vision of Love,” in 1990, and has continued to top the charts ever since with hits including “One Sweet Day," “Honey," and “We Belong Together,” selling millions of records and cementing her status as one of pop music’s reigning divas. As an actress, Carey was critically hailed for her turn as a dowdy case worker in 2009’s Precious.The five-time Grammy Award winner wed radio and TV host Nick Cannon in 2008 and gave birth to twins, a son Moroccan Scott and daughter Monroe, on their three-year anniversary in April 2011.
