The senseless death story of former NFL star Will Smith over a road-rage incident Saturday night has seemingly taken a turn.
According to TMZ Sports, the New Orleans Police Department found a fully-loaded 9mm handgun in Smith's Mercedes-Benz G63 SUV on Tuesday afternoon after issuing a search warrant to inspect the vehicle.
Cardell Hayes, the man charged with second-degree murder in the shooting of Smith, has already said through his lawyers that he was acting in self-defense and this revelation will seemingly only help that argument.
In addition, TMZ reports that one witness alleged that Smith was headed to his vehicle to grab his gun when Hayes shot and killed him, also shooting Smith's wife, Raquel, in the leg twice.
The situation took place Saturday night in New Orleans's Lower Garden District, where Smith's SUV was rear-ended by Hayes's Hummer H2, prompting a heated argument between the two men and the shooting death of the former New Orleans Saints' Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion.
Smith and his wife had just been out with former Saints running back Pierre Thomas, who broke his silence Tuesday with an emotional Instagram post, claiming to have witnessed Smith being shot and killed.
Any way you look at it, this situation could have been avoided.
