Rapper Accused of Putting a Hit Out, Chris Brown Picks Another Fight and Other Music News This Week

A tragic/triumphant recount of the past seven days.

A Week of Waiting - Thank goodness for yet another week filled with music news. Don’t worry, we’ll recap for you. 2016 has already revealed itself to be a great year for new releases by big artists and we got news of another finished album — no, it’s not Frank Ocean’s. No new developments in the Drake vs. Joe Budden story, but Joe goes for a win this week and it doesn’t involve taking a stab at Drake. There wasn’t a plethora of shady moments, but thanks to a pop star, the #TaylorSwiftIsOver party gets extended a little bit. Don’t mind the social media confusion of a Snapchatter or the reappearance of two hip-hop villains. – Jon Reyes(Photo: BET)

The Past 168 Hours  - This week we’re celebrating some awards and milestones. There still isn’t a Beyoncé album because the world is a cruel place that won’t stop talking about The Life of Pablo.Artists are out here making major life moves, business moves, and finally, music moves. Again it wasn’t Beyoncé's music, sadly. Let’s take a look back at the past seven days. —Jon Reyes (BET)

Rock Star 101 - We are so proud of Rihanna and her acceptance speech for the Rock Star Award at this year’s Black Girls Rock. Oh, yeah, and we’re also proud of her evolution. (Photo: Brian Killian/Getty Images)

Chris Brown Loves the Ladies - As if mocking Kehlani’s attempted suicide wasn’t enough to satiate Chris Brown, he went after Tinashé this week. It all started when Tinashé unfollowed Chris Brown after his tirade against Kehlani. Chris really took it personally. It seems that Chris is under the impression that just because he’s featured on a Tinashé track, the singer should be subjected to hateful Twitter updates on her timeline. Fair is fair? (Photos from Left: Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images, Michael Loccisano/Getty Images)

Ms. Mommy Jackson - Janet’s tour has been stopped indefinitely because the artist is planning to have a family! Meaning, any day now the Janet will be preggers! We’re wishing the future mommy all the best in the world. (Photo: Francois Nel/Getty Images)

Just What the Doctor Ordered? - Suge is really trying to sell this one. Supposedly Dr. Dre put a hit out on Suge and was in cahoots with the LAPD to let the shooter flee the country. Oh, Suge. (Photos from Left: Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images, Christopher Polk/Getty Images for Coachella)

The Grass Game - Game’s entrepreneurial spirit is what the American Dream is all about. The rapper is partnering up with a company to make weed-infused products. Like, weed lemonade. Quench that thirst. (Photo: Christopher Polk/Getty Images)

Fif Fights - At a promo event where 50 Cent was performing, a fight broke out and all hell broke loose. You can even catch 50 punching an audience member who kept trying to grab at him. It’s a jungle out there. (Photo: Matthew Eisman/Getty Images for iHeartMedia)

Drake Watch - Two new singles are out and now it seems that Views From the 6 will be out by the end of the month. Now, all we need is a #B6 update. For the love of everything, please, a #B6 update. (Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images for Coachella)

Kanye West: Never Gone - OK, so as it turns out, not having an album out for retail purchase won’t stop Kanye from having a No. 1 album. Meaning that The Life of Pablo could top the charts purely on streaming numbers. Dear heavens, if that happens he won’t ever shut up about it. Like, ever. (Photo: Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images for Yeezy Season 3)

Phife Still Making Moves - We can’t do a music update without including Phife Dawg, especially since there is actually new Phife music. “Nutshell” is the latest release from his upcoming posthumous album. Take a listen and remember the emcee fondly.  (Photo: Smokin Needles Records)
