Beauty With Michelle - Chicago songbird Michelle Williams has made a serious name for herself outside of being one of our favorite former Destiny’s Child members. The singer recently became the first Black actress to play Roxie Hart in the London West End production of “Chicago.” Off stage, the singer has made waves for her daring haircuts. If you’re interested in drastically changing up your look, check out these tips from Michelle as she recounts the day she up'd her fierce factor.

Hair Story - I always had long hair my whole life. When I was 16, I actually got a bob. Then I had the shag where it was real short on top, but you had that piece of hair in the back. Even with the group [Destiny’s Child], I wore a weave and extensions, but my natural hair came down to the middle of my back. At first I was totally against weaves like, ‘Weaves are horrible!’ Now I’m glad that I wore weaves because I still have some hair!

The Big Chop - It took me awhile to do it because there were a couple of times where I actually sat in the chair and said, ‘I’m ready.’ Then, I froze and said, ‘Not this week.’ One day I had my ‘Waiting to Exhale’ moment and said, ‘Cut it, Savannah!’ I felt amazing!

Ravishing Reveal - They [family & friends] loved it! They were like, ‘Oh my God, it suits you so well.’ I’ve just been a fan of seeing women with their short hair. You definitely have to keep it maintained. Every two weeks, I find myself having to cut it to keep the shape and the look of the style.

Bombshell Material - Hmm, would I look right with blonde hair? I was told that a dark blonde would look fabulous on me. I might do a lace front, but I don’t think that I would ever actually color my hair a platinum blonde. I’ll probably keep this style for awhile. It will take me awhile to grow it out, so you might see me with some packaged tresses.

Hair Therapy - SoftSheen-Carson has a new line out called Roots of Nature. It’s a natural hair line that has ingredients like shea butter and green tea to nurture and moisturize your hair.

Face Forward - My five-minute face is a little powder/bronzer, mascara and some gloss. On my days off, I try to let my face breathe. MAC doesn’t make my favorite gloss anymore. It’s called Purr. I like a new Lustreglass called Wonderstruck now. Giorgio Armani has a great Sheer Bronzer in #5.

The Roxy Routine - My current workout regimen is eight shows a week and being on stage for two hours in constant movement! In between, I do weights to stay toned. I love going to my neighborhood fitness center and doing aerobics and yoga. I don’t have a trainer right now, although I do want one.

Necessary Nutrients - It’s all about moderation. I always make sure to include a green vegetable in all of my meals. Like, if I have a hot dog, I make sure to have some spinach or green beans. If your physician gives you strict orders not eat any of that stuff, you should stick to it. Some of us have high cholesterol. I have that, so I have to balance it out by eating more fish and 7-grain bread, which I hate.

Ultimate Boost - You’ll find that I’m very, very low maintenance. I don’t have wheatgrass popsicles or anything like that. For energy, I do a couple of packets of Emergen-C right before I hit the stage. It has the vitamins in it that you need. Every now and then I do a B12 injection.
