Base Visit - Mrs. Obama greets UN and NGO workers during a visit to the United Nation’s base in Port-au-Prince. She praised the peacekeepers and the Haitian people for their strength during and after the earthquake. “Little by little Haiti will move forward,” she said in a speech at the base. “Little by little we’re going to keep making tomorrow better than today.”

The United States has provided almost $1 billion in humanitarian aid and pledged more than $1 billion in additional aid to the nation.
