With the help of <b>colorist and celebrity stylist, Keka Heron</b>, we’ve dissected your top five favorite nominees’ coifs and given you the best tips on proper color maintenance.

Rockin' Red - Rihanna recently revealed her red hot tresses during a performance in Madrid. Nothing’s sexier than a bold red head! Other daring divas should definitely try out a simmering shade of red this summer. You have a variety of colors to choose from if you’re not quite ready to go as light as Rih. Auburn, maroon, mahogany and cinnamon are a few colors to toss around.

Color Cues: Red - To achieve a vibrant red, you may have to slightly lift your hair (same process as testing for blonde). You only need your hair to lift 2 or 3 levels in order for the red to show up. The higher the lift, the brighter the red.

Bey Blonde - Beyonce has been spotted rocking a bleach blonde wash on her typically honey-colored tresses. It takes quite some time to take your hair from a deep brown or black to this particular color, so we don’t advise that you go for Bey’s coif in a single day. Also, consider your skin tone. Some very light colors can wash out your complexion, as opposed to complementing your features like Mrs. Knowles-Carter.

Color Cues: Blonde - The safest way to achieve blondes and reds is to first do a strand test with hair from the nape of your neck. Once you see how that strand reacts to the color, you’ll know what level of blonde you are able to achieve. If your hair can't handle the color chemical process, you can always add some temporary fun by adding blonde hair extensions to the front of your hair for added flare.

Savory Tresses - Alicia Keys is the queen of beautiful, chocolate browns. Her signature tresses have stood the test of time. Always shiny, always sleek, chocolate brown is a great color for any season. Toss in a few sandy brown highlights for the summer and you’re good!

Color Cues: Brown - When choosing the right brown, you can range from medium to dark blonde and bronze to chocolate brown. Kim Kardashian is known for wearing her violet-based dark brown, which is a great color for olive complexions. My favorite brand for at-home chocolate browns is <i>L’Oreal Feria</i>. Their formula automatically gives your hair a great multi-dimensional appearance.

Double Dare - Nicki Minaj’s character coif perfectly suits her Barbie aspirations. Whether she’s rocking a green wig, or a two-toned piece in Usher’s ‘Lil Freak,’ Minaj always uses her hair color to make a statement as memorable as her infamous lyrics.

Color Cues: Two-Toned - I like the two-toned look, however Nicki Minaj’s technique is definitely for the stage only. You can achieve a two-toned look by adding colored extensions in between your natural color. If you don’t want to go extreme, just add a different color to the front of your tresses to spunk up any look! Be fun, be creative!

Mel's Mane - Melanie Fiona’s jet black crown might be silkier than her beautiful voice. The richness of a black hue makes any style look healthy and well kept. To intensify the shine of your black hue, do a clear rinse every three months.

Keep It Up - To best maintain color, keep your hair hydrated and moisturized. Use shampoos and conditioners that are specially formatted for color-treated hair. In my salon, I used <i>Pureology</i>. It’s great for keeping the hair hydrated. Also, make sure to do intense moisturizing and protein treatments. After conditioning, be sure to use a leave-in conditioner and serum on damp hair, and the less heat, the better.
