Making Melody - Initially, I started taking classes on product design and when I finished, I ventured into fashion. It was something that was very innate for me. It’s not something that I really had to think too hard about. Shoes are kind of what take you through the world. They need to be functional, but they also need to be fly.

All For M.E. - I really thought about myself and the types of shoes that I would wear. I was really bored with the selection of the shoes in a certain price range. Any time I wanted a pair of shoes that were different, like a “pop” or a signature piece, it was always made by a really high-end designer. They were always between $700 - $1,200 a pair.

Hooked On "E" - I was really frustrated with what was available at a mid-range, so I wanted to create something for the consumer that wants a pair that’s fun and different. A Peaceful Approach - …I feel like you should attack a thought of anger with a stronger thought of peace. It came down to me approaching every ‘negative’ with a stronger ‘positive’.

Egyptian Essentials - The Egyptian culture in particular has always been something that was really interesting to me. I would always see these different images and I never really knew what they meant.

Cultural Fashion - I got a few books from the library and once I started reading them I became so interested in that civilization. Egyptian culture led me to several other civilizations. In this last collection, I did a lot of sacred geometry, which is something that the Egyptians studied.
