Dating Abuse - The publicity over the "Chrihanna" saga has helped give attention to a grim statistic: one in three young people experience dating abuse at some point in their teenage years.  The organization "Break the Cycle" says only a handful of states are protecting teens from dating violence.  States were evaluated and given failing grades if they didn't provide protective orders for minors or if the state in question didn't recognize dating relationships as a valid cause for obtaining protective orders.

Brown, who was arrested last month after allegedly assaulting Rihanna, faces more than four years behind bars if he's convicted.

Back Out - After weeks out of the public eye, Rihanna emerged and issued a statement regarding the incident. The statement, sent by her representative to People magazine, did not provide any details on the assault, nor did it shed any light on her immediate future. The statement simply provided a “thank you” to her fans that supported her through her recent struggles.

Brown's Dad Speaks - Chris Brown's biological dad said that his real fans wouldn't leave his side over one incident.  He told PEOPLE magazine that there are "two sides to every story...If you are on his side, you are on his side.  Just because someone trips, if you are truly a fan, you are not going to demonize him instantaneously."   Brown's pop said that the singer is "very remorseful" and "very concerned about the situation and he wants to make sure that [Rihanna's] okay."

Speaking Out - Many people, including Chris Brown's stepfather (pictured), spoke out on the alleged assault. Brown's stepfather said he "wouldn't be surprised" if the allegations were true. Other celebs took sides as domestic violence became a major issue in the media.

Struggling - Chris Brown is reportedly going through it, according to Tyrese Gibson.  Gibson told PEOPLE magazine that although Chris "appears" to be doing OK, the whole "Chrihanna" thing is "really taking a toll on his spirit."  Gibson says Brown is also having a hard time focusing on his music.

Charged - Chris Brown was formally charged with two felonies – assault by force likely to produce great bodily injury (GBI) and making criminal threats. Assault by force likely to produce great bodily injury is punishable by up to four years in state prison and/or a fine up to $10,000 plus penalty assessments and fees. Making criminal threats is punishable by up to three years in state prison.

Not Guilty Plea - Not guilty. That's the plea Chris Brown entered Monday on charges of beating and threatening his girlfriend, Rihanna. Brown is charged with assault and with threatening to kill Rihanna during an altercation the night before the Grammys in February. If convicted, he could be sentenced to probation or to as many as five years in prison.

Not Guilty? - The “Kiss Kiss” singer faced a judge inside an LA courtroom to be arraigned on two felony charges in connection with an alleged February altercation with Rihanna. After failing to strike a plea deal prior to the arraignment on Monday, April 6, Chris Brown pled “Not Guilty” to two felony counts: assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury and making criminal threats.

He's Out - Meanwhile, Brown has taken his name off the shortlist for Nickelodeon's  popular Kids' Choice Awards scheduled for March 28, after his nomination  for favorite male singer and song sparked a controversy.  Thousands of parents signed a petition calling on Nickelodeon to toss him out after his alleged attack last month on pop star Rihanna for which he now faces assault charges.  Nickelodeon said it respects Brown's decision.

I Am Not A Monster - During a live chat with Bow Wow, Brown told the world, "I am not a monster." He also added, “We ain’t going nowhere. Everybody that’s haters, they just been haters. All my real fans, I love ya’ll. I ain’t a monster. Believe that.” This would be the first time Brown spoke on the subject.
