Fashion Forward - “I am now a clothing designer,” said celebrity stylist Jason Bolden, who just released 5th and Mercer, a clothing line he launched with client and business partner La La Anthony. “The jumper was the first piece,” explains Bolden. “As a stylist, I talk to girls all the time and I see what the frustration is. It’s trying to find the perfect match. It’s always easier to have just one thing, like a dress, because you just throw it on. But the cool factor about a jumper is it’s sexy, unexpected and, at the same time, easy. So with that, we just decided to expand on it and now we have a full-fledged collection that will be available at the end of the summer.” (Photo: Chelsea Lauren/Getty Images)

The Big Night - “Everyone is excited. All my clients are excited," raves Bolden. "We have Gabrielle Union. We have La La Anthony. We have Taraji P. Henson. All three of them are presenting this year and walking the red carpet, so this should be really, really special, and I’m excited to push the envelope a bit with some of their styles,” said Bolden of his clients. “I get to kind of play dress up with my girls. All weekend, and the day of the BET Awards, I’m running back and forth and making sure that each girl looks exactly how she wants to look, and how I want to present them to the BET audience. It’s exciting." (Photo: Chelsea Lauren/Getty Images)

When Gabby Calls - Bolden reflects on a conversation he had with Gabrielle Union: “I spoke to Gabrielle and she was, like, ‘I want a fashion moment.’ Out of nowhere. ‘I want a fashion moment.’ So Gab is going to give you a fashion moment this year. You know, a lot of people see her in black. She loves black and she’s always in things that are extremely bodycon because she has a great body, but I think this year she’s going to give you a little something. We’re going to give you a little something.” (Photo: Courtesy Jason Bolden)

La La's New Look - “La is the fashionista,” he continues. “And, if you notice, the direction I take La on now is to tone it down a lot. She has such a beautiful face, she has great hair, she has great eyes and a va-va-voom body, so we’re deciding not to go so far left. We’re keeping it just right and super simple and super sexy. It’s about the tone down, and we’re toning it down. We all have the evolution and she’s evolving day to day and she’s actually really, really growing into her own style.” (Photo: Courtesy Jason Bolden)

Talking With Taraji - As for Taraji P. Henson, Bolden calls her a handful. “In a past life she was a stylist. She has a slight shopping fetish—just a little. With her I forget that I’m working because we have so much fun. She’s someone I take shopping with me and we shop together." While her fashion choice for the BET Awards is still between two looks, Bolden said, "I’m really, really, really pushing something that’s out-of-the-box for her and that’s kind of very dramatic, so I hope that we go with it. I kind of have my powers of persuasion and sprinkle a little magic on her." (Photo: Courtesy Jason Bolden)

Gabrielle's Closet - "In Gab’s wardrobe, there’s going to be three things that you will always find,” dishes Bolden. “She’s going to have a denim jacket. She’s going to have the perfect pair of cargos and she’s also going to have a white t-shirt. She’s a quintessential Cali girl. She’s not about all the fluff. She’s all about comfort and she owns it. So there’s something that’s very endearing about it, and something very sexy.” (Photo by Alexander Tamargo/Getty Images for Syndicate Media Group)

All Taraji Everything - “Taraji is the one who always wants to dress up. Even when we’re going shopping, she’s dressed. She buys her clothes and she wears them. Some of my clients—and most celebrities—buy things and never wear them, but Taraji wears everything. In her closet you’ll to find every shoe imaginable, every dress, every handbag, every accessory." La La Revealed - “La La is the girl next door," says Bolden. "She wants to be in her Jordans, she wants to be in her summertime cutoff shorts and a really relaxed tank top that you can kind of see her bra through; that’s La La. Deep down inside she's a rock star.” (Photo: Instagram via lala)

Summer Must - Like a true stylist, Jason breaks down a full, head-to-toe look for us. “You need the perfect pair of sandals. It needs a strap right across the toe and one that grabs your ankle—simple and sexy." From there, says Bolden, add a "classic pair of denim cutoff shorts. They're easy, and you can turn them up or down." To complete the look, add denim up top, but, explains Bolden, "not the same color. Add a denim shirt, roll the sleeves up, and put a pair of studs in your ears and one great piece of statement jewelry. It can be a bracelet or a really cool necklace, and that’s it.”And if you’re not convinced, he adds, “the look travels well. It’s perfect for a date, and you can meet your friends wearing it. It’s not trying too hard, but it still makes a statement."(Photo: Chelsea Lauren/Getty Images)

Fashion Tip - If it’s not denim, then “it’s all about white, baby,” Bolden adds. "White is the best way to go. It pops, and it makes everyone’s skin look great. It’s fresh, it’s young. And there’s nothing like a great, white t-shirt. Hands down. Sparkling white and crisp."(Photo: Chelsea Lauren/Getty Images)

My Muse - “It’s so bizarre,” Bolden admits of his unexpected inspirations. “Middle Eastern girls…I love, love, love. If you look at their cultures, you’ll find out that some of them are draped in the most amazing things in the world,” he adds. “It’s something about the solitude, the sophistication and the seduction that exhibit do without saying anything or showing anything. There’s something really desirable about that. For me, I feel like there comes a point in time when you don’t always have to wear something super tight. You don’t always have to be so obviously sexy to be sexy because boys love the girl next door. That’s the one they marry.”(Photo: Chelsea Lauren/Getty Images)
