For the Fellas - Soulful crooner, Dwele, humored us by engaging in a brief chat about Black men, Black women and Black hair. Although the Detroit native couldn’t quite remember what he actually uses on his own hair, he did have some insightful things to say about a few topics that continually fill Black salons and barbershops every week.

Hairy Details - Truthfully, I use whatever is around. People give me a lot of samples of shampoos and conditioners because they see my hair, so I actually have no idea what I use! I just grab a random shampoo and conditioner and just go for it.

Back Then... - I did braids back in the day. Well, actually, I started off with twists in like ’01 when I came out with Slum Village. That’s just what I was feeling at the time. I found a consistent braider and we did our thing. Then, I just got kind of sick of braids and I wanted to do something different.

Office Politics - I think it’s a shame that a Black man’s hair is as political as it is. I’ve done corporate America before and I see how certain people react to it.
