Activists from the charity Oxfam wore masks depicting each of the G8 leaders as they dined on spaghetti in front of Saint Giovanni in Laterano Basilica in Rome. The group wants the leaders to focus on climate change, which they fear will make the world’s hunger problem worse. REUTERS/Max Rossi

Celebrating Mothers - Friday afternoon the first lady will host a Mother’s Day event in the White House’s East Room. The distinguished guests include former First Lady Rosalynn Carter and her granddaughter Sarah Carter, Tricia Nixon Cox, and Anne Eisenhower. In addition, spouses and mothers of troops and young women from Mrs. Obama’s mentoring program will attend with the notable women in their lives.
