DO Wait Until You’re Comfortable Around Him - If the idea of using the bathroom while he’s in the next room freaks you out, you’re probably not yet ready to travel together. (Photo: Blend Images/Visual Ideas/Corbis)

Relationship as a Whole - Dig deep and unveil the reasons why the relationship didn’t work out in the first place. Sometimes when going through a rough patch in a relationship, we tend to break up over the silliest things. In retrospect, we realize a little communication would have taken us a long way. DON’T Plan Alone - The best way to map out a trip that you will both enjoy is to plan it together. Both the location and what you do when you get there are key. Do you want to lounge on the beach all day? Visit museums? Eat your way through town? Go skydiving? And make it a point to solicit his opinion every step of the way. DO Limit Travel Time - You can learn a lot about your relationship from how well you travel together. Stack the deck by making things easier: Whether it’s a two-hour drive or a 90-minute flight, keep things relatively nearby so that you won’t be stressed (missed connections are the devil) or spend the entire time in planes, trains and automobiles. DON’T Over Pack - It’s just a weekend, so only take what you can fit in a weekender bag; goodness knows you don’t want to be stuck with a heavy bag, or risk losing a checked suitcase. Bring clothes you can wear from day to night, and coordinate on some things (think: toothpaste) to avoid doubles and save space. Bring one pair of sexy heels and wear a pair of comfy flats that work with everything — don’t be the uncomfortable chick sightseeing in stilettos. And make space for snacks, ’cause, boys. DO Pack Birth Control - Vacation sex is the best; don’t let assumptions steal your joy. He might not bring condoms and you might not be able to easily buy it locally. So pack your own and anything else you’re using for protection. While you’re at it, throw in some sexy lingerie; you’ll both appreciate it. (Photo: 2/Hayley Baxter/Gallo Images/Ocean/Corbis)

DON’T Forget to Clean Up Before You Go - If you need a wax or pedi, do it before you hit the road. You want to be comfortable and relaxed, not trying to escape to the hotel spa as soon as you arrive. (Photo: JGI/Jamie Grill/Blend Images/Corbis)

DO Disconnect - Your getaway should be about connecting with each other, not posting on IG. Vow to spend less time with your devices and more time with each other on your trip. (Photo: 68/Ocean/Corbis)

DON’T Overschedule Your Days - Who wants to spend their vacay on a tight schedule? Plan a couple of big things (reservations to a big deal restaurant you can’t wait to try, a snorkeling excursion) and then figure things out together as you go. Be flexible and willing to compromise to make the trip great for both of you. Make “go with the flow and don’t freak out” your mantra this weekend. (Photo: Daniel Grill/Tetra Images/Corbis)

DO Venture Out Alone - Yes, you’re on a couple’s trip, but you don’t have to spend every moment together. If he wants to sleep in and you want to do sunrise yoga on the roof of your hotel, go do yoga! Just meet up for brunch (or stay in for room service) after! (Photo: Peter Frank/Corbis)
