Candyman (1992) - There aren't many horror films in the Black movie canon, so when Candyman came out this week in 1992, it became an instant classic. The slasher film, based on a novel written by horror-meister Clive Barker, follows a young graduate student exploring the urban legend of Candyman, a former slave who was murdered and his hand replaced with a hook, who now haunts Chicago's Cabrini-Green housing project. Just in time for Halloween, we look back at where the cast of Candyman is now. (Photo: courtesy of Tristar Pictures)

Tony Todd - This 6-foot 5-inch actor from Washington, D.C., already had an impressive array of credits (Platoon, Night of the Living Dead) before he put on Candyman's signature trench coat and hook, but Todd became a certified fixture on the horror/thriller scene after the film. He went on to star not only in the two Candyman sequels, but also The Crow, the Final Destination franchise and Hatchet and Hatchet 2.   (Photo: courtesy of Tristar Pictures)

Virginia Madsen - Madsen portrayed Helen Lyle, a graduate student working on a thesis about urban legends who pursued Candyman and faced horrifying consequences as a result. A star since she was a teenager, Madsen rose to fame with films like Dune and Zombie High. Post-Candyman, she starred in The Rainmaker and Star Trek: Voyager and was the long-running host of Unsolved Mysteries. But her biggest moment came in 2004 when she was nominated for an Oscar for her leading role in Sideways. Madsen currently stars in AMC's Hell on Wheels.  (Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images)

Kasi Lemmons - Film buffs know what Lemmons, who played Madsen's best friend, Bernadette, has been up to since Candyman. The St. Louis native took on a few more roles in films like Hard Target and Gridlock'd before jumping behind the camera full time. Lemmons directed the critically acclaimed Eve's Bayou in 1997 and is currently gearing up for the release of her latest work, Black Nativity, starring Jennifer Hudson. Xander Berkeley - As the philandering husband of grad student Helen Lyle, Berkeley got what was coming to him by the end of the film. The actor was best recognized for his television work prior to Candyman from shows like M*A*S*H and Miami Vice and has since starred in dozens of films including Gattaca, Amistad and Kick-Ass. Ted Raimi - Raimi's creepy cameo at the beginning of the film set the tone for the fright fest to follow. The brother of A-list director Sam Raimi, Ted has an extensive film and television career of his own. His post-Candyman credits include The Grudge, Drag Me to Hell and roles in his brother's Spider-man trilogy and Oz the Great and Powerful. (Photo: courtesy of Tristar Pictures)

Bernard Rose - The British filmmaker got his start working for, of all people, Jim Henson and worked mostly in the U.K. before making his Hollywood debut with Candyman. Despite the critical and commercial success of the film, Rose opted out of the Hollywood life and went back to his roots for future films such as Immortal Beloved and Anna Karenina.
