Creating Texture - Plenty of slightly tousled waves give volume and texture. It’s an easy way to create movement.

Color Cues - Strawberry and platinum blonde hues are hot this season. I personally love simple jet black hair, or a rich chocolate brown.

Red Hot - Red hair is also one of the hottest color trends of the summer. Not a fire engine red, but more so something like the color of auburn leaves. It looks really beautiful in the sun.

Luscious Layers - My suggestion for layers is to have them start at your cheekbones so they’ll frame your face. Whether your hair length is down to your shoulders or down to your behind, start your layers there. Make sure they are very deep and full. When you have layers, your hair falls better.

Short n' Sweet - Many women are still into the short styles popularized by Chrisette Michele, Keri Hilson and Fantasia. A lot of my clients are now asking for the ‘Monica’. She has a very short, simple cut. Women are now having their bangs cut shorter in these styles. If my client does have that longer bang, I curl it really tight, and frame it to the face.

Lovely Length - Recently, concerning length, I’ve done a 30-inch weave, along with a 22-inch weave. Women are really not afraid of weaves anymore and many of my clients are getting sewn-in weaves much longer because it’s easier to throw into a ponytail. My clients are always in the gym, so the natural Indian hair is very convenient because it still looks pretty even when it’s wet.

Laced Up - Lace front wigs are starting to become more natural looking and more reasonable in price; however, I always tell my clients that they’re not for everyday wear. They were created for industry women in music, film and television.

Bold Bobs - Angled bobs with bangs are still very much in. They’re very tapered in the back and longer on the sides. The hair remains off of the neck because it gets so hot in the summertime.

Sewn-In vs. Glue - Sewn-ins are the healthiest method of weaving. Even if you place a net over the braids, you’re protecting your hair. Glue isn’t bad either; you just have to put it in correctly. You should always have a professional use a minimal amount of glue to put the tracks in, as well as have a professional help you remove them. For at-home styling, you should always glue at the scalp, not the hair.

Perfect Ponies - Women are loving very simple ponytails. Some of my clients that have very short hair have me bond in tracks to create a straight, long ponytail with a bang – at least 18 inches.
