Desiree Rogers Lands New Gig - The White House’s former social secretary Desiree Rogers has landed a new job at Johnson Publishing – the parent company of Jet and Ebony magazines- as a consultant who’ll work on corporate strategy. Rogers, a close friend of the Obamas, left her former job when she got heat after a Virginia couple crashed a White House dinner last year.

Responsible for coordinating the who’s and where’s on the presidential social calendar, she comes from Allstate Financial, where she was hired to create a social network for the company’s clients and consumers last year.

Going to Africa - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will visit seven Africa nations when she travels to the continent next month.
