Black Like Me - Fredi Washington, born Fredricka, was one of the first Black actresses to garner mainstream attention for her work on stage and screen. She's best known for her portrayal of Peola, a troubled young woman who passes for white, in 1934's Imitation of Life. Washington is also credited as a founder of the Negro Actors Guild. In Living Color - Folks were shocked when Broadway actress Carol Channing claimed that her biological father was half Black in her 2002 autobiography Just Lucky I Guess. Channing said she was 16 when her mother told her that her father, George Channing, was the son of a German-American father and a Black mother.
