10 Times Just Blaze Made Us Love Sampling

Just Blaze can chop a sample like nobody can.

Just Blaze, @JustBlaze - Tweet: "Rap City returns today with @eminem and @Slaughterhouse at 6pm on BET. Apparently some cornball producer/DJ pops up at some point too."No better way to revive Rap City than with Big Tigger, Eminem and the fiercest freesyle crew in the game. Wait, there is. Blazin' Through the Track  - Just Blaze is known for making countless hits since 1999 and has tons that have never been unearthed. Last week he played unreleased tracks by Jay Electronica and Jay Z, because why not? And if you’re a fan of his production, you know he’s a connoisseur in the art of sampling. Many of his iconic beats had that one repetitive voice, one horn, one riff of keys guiding the song throughout three minutes and thirty seconds. Those are the sounds that stand out, most likely due to its familiarity. Here’s a list of some of Just Blaze’s best samples, because without them, the songs wouldn’t be the same. — Janice Llamoca (Photo: Brian Killian/WireImage)

Jay-Z – 'Song Cry' - “I’m sorry” never sounded so good coming from HOV. Showing versatility with songs like “Big Pimpin’” under his belt, he managed to paint a vivid picture of all the ways you can wrong in a relationship. With the sample of Bobby Glenn’s “Sounds Like Love a Song” as the beating heart of the record, a classic joint was born.(Photo: Theo Wargo/Getty Images for TIDAL)
