'Bishop' Walker - The Rev. Hezekiah Walker is about to add the title of “bishop” to his resume. The 45-year-old Brooklyn-based, hip-hop pastor will be named a bishop in the Pentecostal Church Aug. 3, in Atlanta. The honor recognizes his work among young people and for starting new churches – five in the United States, and one in Cape Town, South Africa.

Off the Hook - Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch won't be facing discipline from the NFL for a hit-and-run accident he was involved in. League commissioner Roger Goodell has personally informed Lynch that he won't be disciplined for the accident, which left a woman injured. Goodell says he based his decision on the fact that Lynch eventually agreed to plead guilty to a traffic violation.

No More Music - After five albums, Tyrese Gibson is no longer doing music. The one-time crooner says his mentor, Will Smith, has advised him to concentrate on his movie career. Gibson said Smith told him that he has what it takes for the big screen, and Gibson wants to spend more time perfecting his acting chops.

Selling Gum - You know the Chris Brown song "Forever?" It is actually a commercial for Doublemint gum. The Wall Street Journal reports that "Forever" is an extended version of a new Doublemint jingle written by Brown. It will actually start airing as a commercial next month. Brown is one of three singing stars signed to freshen up the image of three of Wrigley's best-known brands of chewing gum.

Car Crash - Rapper Trina and her boo, NBA star Kenyon Martin, were reportedly involved in a head-on collision in Belize over the weekend, with a van carrying two children. Trina and Martin did not suffer any injuries, but their driver suffered minor injuries. Witnesses claim that the Excursion was being led by a police motorcade that was overtaking other cars on a busy, narrow road.

Back Off - You don't mess with mama's baby, and Halle Berry wants the paparazzi to know that. She's taking the photographer who snapped pictures of her and her newborn to court. The pictures of Berry and her 4-month-old Nahla Ariela Aubry showed up on the Net and in a pair of celeb magazines. Berry says the shooter trespassed on her property, and there are witnesses who can prove it.

Pay Up - From rappers to writers? Maybe not. The would-be publisher says it wants the money back. But lawyers for both Foxy Brown and Lil' Kim say the rappers still want to do the books they were already paid for. Simon and Schuster says Foxy Brown was paid $75,000 in 2005 to do an autobiography, and Lil' Kim banked a check for $40,000 in 2003 for a novel that was due the following year. Apparently tired of waiting, the publisher has sued both for a return of the advance money.

Offensive Tags - Arkansas is pulling license plates ending in "NGR," following complaints that it seemed too much like the “N”-word. “Some folks might think its OK, others find it offensive,” Roger Duren of the Office of Motor Vehicles said.

Wedding Bells? - Is NFL star Reggie Bush and Kim Kardashian about to tie the knot? Kardashian told "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest, during his LA radio show, that she’s preparing for her wedding to Bush, who she’s been dating her for about a year. The catch is, though they’re not yet engaged. Kardashian says she's planning ahead so that, “Whenever I get asked, there won’t be any drama.”

Sentenced to Death - For the first time in more than a half-century, the president of the United States has approved the execution of a U.S. soldier. On Monday, President Bush OK’d the death of Army Pvt. Ronald A. Gray, who was convicted of killing four people, including two fellow military personnel, and raping eight women in the Fayetteville, N.C., area during an eight-month period while stationed at Fort Bragg.

'Sorry' - The House of Representatives is finally ready to say "sorry" to Blacks for slavery and the era of Jim Crow. The nonbinding resolution, which is expected to pass, was introduced by Rep. Steve Cohen, a White lawmaker who represents a majority Black district in Memphis, Tenn.

Sued - Jacob the Jeweler may be behind bars, but he’s not letting that stop him from taking care of his business. The “King of Bling” sued Wyclef Jean, accusing the rapper/producer of stiffing him for more than $300,000 in watches and jewelry, despite “repeated demands for payment.”

New Sound - Black Eyed Peas are cooking – a new album, that is. The group is in the studio working on a new album, which will be their first project since they dropped "Monkey Business" in 2005. Fergie says the group wants to avoid copying "what's out there on the radio" now, but come up with something "artistic and pushing the envelope."

Hurtful Memories - The American Medical Association officially apologized in July for its history of excluding Black doctors from membership, for listing Black doctors as "Colored" in its national physician directory for decades, and for failing to speak against federal funding of segregated hospitals and in favor of civil rights legislation.
