See Why This Platinum Blonde Model's Positive Tweets Are Going Viral

"Too dark" for who?

Imagine waking up one morning and seeing your image plastered all over the internet — weird right? But that's exactly what happened to 18-year-old Desiree Djaba (aka @dezaffiliated) over the weekend.

The stylist, fashion designer and makeup artist of Nigerian and Ghanaian decent innocently tweeted a photo of herself rocking a platinum bob and racked in thousands of likes.

"The idea came from my hairstylist Ester," Dez shared with BET Style. "She had never done a blonde look on a dark skinned woman and she wanted to try it out on me, I didn't think twice."

The reason? Dez says, like herself, many other women with darker skin tones have struggled with embracing the bold look. Now they have a muse to showcase that, yes, it's OK to seriously stand out in the crowd.

Scroll below for some positive tweets that warmed our hearts — including one from beauty blogger Jackie Aina herself:

"My advice [for those who want to go blonde] would be to just go for it. People are going to talk either way. You owe it to yourself to do what makes you happy. Who cares what people think?" added Dez.

Of course, when it comes to critiques, the internet trolls always find the time. Dez's newly formed fan club clapped back within a matter of seconds at the unassuming Karin chick below:

Fortunately, Dez is taking her viral statement in stride. "I still can't believe it, the support was and still is mind blowing! I had no idea that it would turn out like this and the notifications from both platforms all at once was almost overwhelming."

Keep shining sis — and oh, by the way, wear your hair however you please!
