See Why This New Amazon Service Has Social Media Shook
Wayment, Amazon just announced they are delivering packages directly into your living room now with a new service they've dubbed Amazon Key. While some love the idea of convenience, others are worried that letting a stranger into their home is a bit too much.
The service is available exclusively for Amazon Prime members, who already receive perks such as anytime delivery, speedy shipping and an awesome return process, to name a few. However, having a key to your home is a whole other level of customer service.
According to Amazon, as a Prime member, you will get your Amazon packages securely delivered just inside your front door, plus it's not just for deliveries. It lets you grant permanent or temporary access to recurring visitors like your family, friends, dog walker or house cleaner — no more leaving a key under the mat.
Members interested will need to purchase the Amazon Key In-Home Kit, starting at $249.99. The kit includes the Amazon Cloud Cam (Key Edition) indoor security camera and a compatible smart lock. Members can use the Amazon Key App to watch deliveries, check in anytime via live view and lock and unlock your front door from anywhere.
Needless to say, the whole concept has people SHOOK and, as usual, folks took their frustrations to the internet:
Amazon Key will launch on November 8, just in time for the holidays. How do you feel about the new service?
