NCAA Seeks to Address Athletes’ Academic Progress at HBCUs - The NCAA is set to look into the academic disparity between athletes at HBCU campuses and those at predominantly white schools. Last year, 33 out of the 103 schools penalized for not having an acceptable APR (the Academic Progress Rate) for athletes, a high ratio considering the small number of HBCUs in comparison to other schools.

Julianne Malveaux to Step Down as President of Bennett College  - Bennett College, the historically Black all-women’s college, announced last week that President Julianne Malveaux is resigning. Her resignation will be effective May 6. The noted economist and author has led the college since 2007. She is leaving to pursue other challenges, the press statement said.(Photo: Wikicommons)
