Cheryl Lynn is a disco, R&B and soul singer best known for her 1978 hit “Got to Be Real.” Her career kicked off when she snagged a gig as a backup singer for the national touring company of The Wiz. She eventually earned the role of the Wicked Witch of the West during the six-month national tour. On September 19, 2005, “Got to Be Real” was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame.
