Doja Cat made her debut as Skechers' first-ever Artist-In-Residence at the Time 100 Gala.
The Grammy-Award winning hit maker and eclectic style icon appeared on stage in a custom look made entirely from deconstructed Skechers Uno sneakers. The outfit is a joint creation between Doja Cat and longtime creative director and stylist, Brett Alan Nelson, according to Footwear News.
"I designed this look with almost 70 pairs of black Skechers Uno sneakers deconstructed into a performance look for her Time100 performance. There is nothing more punk rock than completely destroying something and making it into something else," Nelson said of the ensemble, according to Rolling Stone.
The monochromatic look included a black padded bralette top that had daring cutouts and lace accents near the center and on them. She wore the ensemble during her performance where she rocked her hits, "Say So," and "Woman." The custom top was paired with a coordinating mini skirt and sheer mesh tights. She added a collection of Valentino and Messika jewelry including hoop earrings, layered silver necklaces and bangle bracelets for the bling.
“Skechers has given me a new canvas to create,” Doja shared in a statement about the new partnership, according to Rolling Stone, adding that “I can’t wait to show everyone what we are building.”
The Uno sneaker is available from Skechers for $80. It's available in 10 colors, plus medium and wide widths, the latest model of the Uno shoes features a breathable synthetic upper, the brand’s Skech-Air midsole with a bit of cushioning, plus “air-cooled” memory foam insoles.
