BET Awards 2025: Kendrick Lamar's Records That Reminds Us To Love Our Blackness
Kendrick Lamar has been a silent force since he came out the gate swinging in the hip-hop scene. Lamar has given the world so many anthems and reasons why it's so beautiful to be Black. The 'Album Of The Year' recipient hold his blackness up with pride and he does it in a such an unapologetic way.
As we continue to celebrate Juneteenth all weekend, here's a few records from the artist that should be on your playlist.
"Not Like Us"
Of course this song makes the list because it's true. They are NOT like us, respectfully. An anthem derived from a rap beef between Lamar and Drake, has now become a cultural moment that lives on forever.
"Hiipower"
Whew, this was a deep record. Lamar mentions a few of our Black activists and calls out America on racial injustices and issues that affect the Black community that isn't being discussed, especially publicly.
"Alright"
Showing images on how Black America is treated, especially with police enforcement, was bold and powerful for Lamar to do. He reminded us that no matter the challenges we face, we're going to be alright.

A record where you are reminded to love yourself. Lamar has been ahead of the curve and not subscribing to the evils where they want hip-hop artists to exploit their struggles and feed our youth negativity. This is a masterclass on how to educate our youth through music so they can digest the message easier.
"The Blacker The Berry"
Lamar is not the one to sugar coat, and he used this song to remind us of his beautiful features and how the world may oppress our Black community, but they will not hold us down and put us in these invisible shackles to terminate our culture. A classic record.
