An Amazon delivery driver in Ohio is going viral after confronting a cyclist who allegedly spat in his face and hurled racial slurs during a neighborhood delivery run. (See video below.)

Atlanta Blackstar shared that, in the clip—captured from the driver’s POV— an older white cyclist is shown with blood running down his face, as bystanders question why things turned physical.​

The driver, identified as David McDonald, shared that he was “minding [his] business, making deliveries at an intersection” in Madison when the cyclist accused him of nearly hitting him with his truck. 

McDonald then said the man grew aggressive, called him an “idiot” and the N-word, then later followed him to his next stop. After McDonald told him to back away from the van so he could work, the cyclist allegedly grabbed him and spit in his face.​

That, McDonald said, was it. Spitting, which is considered a form of battery in Ohio, crossed a line he was unwilling to ignore. He responded by punching the cyclist, later summarizing the encounter on camera: “He spit on me, and I beat his a**.”​

Video shows an older white couple stepping in to scold McDonald, despite not seeing the initial assault. When he tells them he plans to call the police and is filming “for my safety,” one man warns he could “lose [his] job” while insisting the cyclist has nothing to lose. McDonald refuses to back down, saying he’s protecting his “self-respect and dignity” and urging the man to “ride…up out of here” and “don’t spit on me again.”​

Online, commenters have overwhelmingly sided with McDonald, calling the punch a clear case of “play stupid games, win stupid prizes.”
