Gucci Mane Pens Open Letter to Fans

The Trap God says he's "physically incarcerated" but "spiritually and mentally free."

Gucci Mane says that he’s planning to take his career to “the next level,” in a handwritten letter to fans obtained by MTV News. The Trap God was sentenced to three years for federal weapons possesion, and incarercation has given him time to think about growing musically, and spiritually.

“I am planning to take my music to a higher level and use the attention and influence to sell movies, books, clothing and be a living testimony to all people showing that you can start from humble beginnings and transcend to something greater,” writes Gucci. “It feels great to see my plan take root and begin to blossom even though I’m physically incarcerated but spiritually and mentally I’m free as ever. I enjoy working out molding my body and I look forward to changing my diet for the better because I realize to get to the status I crave I must make a life-change which is permanent not a quick-fix.”

Gucci's latest project, Trap God 3, was released in mid-October, and although the 34-year-old Brick Squad rapper never stopped dropping music from behind bars, he asserts that his new career goals aren't just a "dream." Guwop invisions a future where he will be “walking red carpets” with his "beautiful lady," receiving accolades for his work, and "setting trends that will be copied around the world."

However, Gucci says this will only be possible if he maintains sobriety. “I know that by me staying sober, praying and fasting and stepping up to the plate to be the father and man I am destined to be I will impact my family and the entire universe for the better.”
