Cardi B Wins Defamation Case Over 2020 Hamptons Incident

New York trial judge, William Condon, dismissed the case citing the suit as “baseless.”

Cardi B continues to win big in court and her latest defamation case dating back to 2020 was granted in her favor.

According to Rolling Stone, on Friday (Mar. 25) the Bronx rapper and her sister, Hennessy Carolina, beat a defamation case brought against them by three of New York’s Suffolk County beachgoers who got into a confrontation with Carolina back in September 2020.

The plaintiffs sued for defamation as well as assault and battery.

According to their report, they claim that a video of the altercation shared online by Cardi accused them of being “racist” and was edited “to remove portions thereof, and thereby hold plaintiffs in a false light, so as to tend to expose and in fact expose each plaintiff to public contempt, ridicule and disgrace and harm.”

However, New York trial judge, William Condon, dismissed the case citing the suit as “baseless.”

“[Plaintiffs] have failed to allege any special harm or defamation per se,” Judge Condon wrote about his decision. “They cannot specifically identify who the defamatory statements were made to. Further, neither Cardi B nor Michelle Diaz made any defamatory statements or publish(ed) any video to the Internet concerning the incident. The words uttered to plaintiffs do not arise to defamatory language as they were merely general insults.”

In other Cardi news, earlier this year, the “WAP” rapper won another defamation lawsuit after defeating YouTube blogger Tasha K. BET previously reported that Tasha K was ordered to pay Cardi $4 million after she was sued for defamation, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
