Above all conspiracies about who shot Tupac Shakur in 1994, two years prior to his fatal Las Vegas shooting, there’s one suspect whose name still spins in the rumor mill over two decades later: Pac’s New York rap rival Notorious B.I.G.
But according to Naughty By Nature’s Treach, there’s no way that Biggie could have been a part of the shooting because of his undying love and loyalty to his then-brother in rhyme.
Revealing rather uncommon knowledge with Vlad TV on the life and times of both rap legends, Treach explained that Tupac’s biggest gripe after the 1994 incident was his disbelief and suspicion in practically everyone around him. The robbery-turned-shooting triggered a switch in Pac that caused him to become paranoid, even leading him to mistrust the hospital bed he lay in after the shooting. Treach added that 'Pac was also misled in his suspicion of Biggie, whom he suspected set him up for the Quad Recording Studio shooting also.
“What ]Pac didn’t understand at the time [was] Biggie wasn’t a street n***a,” he explained at the 12:11 mark. “He was one of the greatest of all times and a great lyricist, but Biggie was basically tellin’ stories of the ghetto he grew up in. Let me tell y’all some s**t right now, man. What happened in that s**t, Biggie had a lot of real live gangsters from the street with his circle. 'Pac didn’t understand that Biggie probably feared these motherf**kers, but Biggie loved 'Pac. 'Pac’s problem with Biggie was that he couldn’t [talk to the streets because he wasn’t of the streets]. Did Biggie set 'Pac up? I’m gonna say hell f**king no. Biggie couldn’t go and tell nobody nothing. So many people was in the studio — motherf**kers just knew 'Pac was coming and just squatted there waiting for him.”
Afterward, Treach expressed his regret that before the men were able to sit down and reach an understanding, they both were killed and never got an opportunity to squash their beef. This led him to denounce anyone who is still picking sides in the infamous Tupac versus Biggie, West Coast versus East Coast beef.
“They died beefin’. We gon’ beef forever! Not on the f**k on my watch, ’cause I know real f**kin’ stories, man!”
