Micah Parsons Calls Cowboys Offseason 'Super Toxic' After Stellar Packers Debut
In his first game as a Green Bay Packer, Micah Parsons showed just why he is regarded as one of the best defensive players in the NFL.
Behind Parsons' defensive presence, even in limited play, and the team's stout all-around play, the Packers defeated divisional rival Detroit Lions 27-13 on Sunday.
Although he played just 29 defensive snaps, Parsons managed to sack Lions quarterback Jared Goff once. Parsons pressured Goff twice, one of which led to an interception by Evan Williams.
After the game, Parsons reflected on what it felt like to be a Packer following his debut at Lambeau Field.
"I can't lie — it gave me chills. This environment, the first time, how they embraced me — the fans. This was 1 of 1," Parsons told CBS in his postgame interview.
"These guys embraced me," he continued. "They believe in my talents. They believed in me and I'm just gonna give these guys everything I have because I know what's at stake and I know what they gave up for me to be here and I'mma do what it takes for us to win."
While in the locker room, Parsons reflected on all the drama that took place with his contract dispute during the off-season and the toll that it had on everyone involved.
“These last six months was super draining, super toxic for everyone. It's something that I don't think no player should have to go through," said Parsons, to The Athletic.
Just before the start of the season, Parsons, a four-time Pro Bowler and a generational talent, was traded by the Dallas Cowboys to the Packers in a move that has stunned the NFL world. In return, the Cowboys received two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark.
After the trade, Parsons inked a four-year, $188 million deal with $136 million guaranteed that will make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history at $47 million per year.
