Jamie Foxx Pays Tribute to Sister for Saving His Life
Jamie Foxx is expressing profound gratitude to his sister, Deidra Dixon.
On Tuesday, August 1, the Academy Award-winner paid a touching tribute to his sister, celebrating her birthday and the life-saving decisions she made during his health emergency last spring.
"Happy birthday to my beautiful for sister @frequency11 'D'… you are magical you are beautiful you are the courageous lionesses #leoseason," Foxx captioned a carousel of photos of him and his sister. "And without you I would not be here … had you not made the decisions that you made I would’ve lost my life."
"I love you forever and ever, happy birthday sis," the 55-year-old concluded, before encouraging viewers to “#swipe left” for more photos of the birthday girl.
Last month, Foxx made his official return to social media after his April hospitalization for an undisclosed medical condition. The veteran Hollywood star appeared in a heartwarming video shared on Instagram on July 22, thanking both his sister and daughter, Corinne Foxx, for their unwavering "protection" during his recovery.
“To be honest with you, my sister Deidra Dixon, my daughter Corinne Marie saved my life,” he told viewers in a minute-and-a-half-long video.
Foxx acknowledged that “a lot of people" were "waiting" for updates about his health condition, but he shared "To be honest with you, I just didn't want you to see me like that."
He commended the pair for their discretion during the delicate moment, adding “And y'all know they kept it airtight, didn't let nothing out. They protected me and that's what I hope that everyone could have and moments like these."
