Posted Nov. 20, 2007 – Disgraced Atlanta Falcons player Michael Vick has sped up the process of serving time for his involvement in an illegal Virginia dog-fighting ring.

Weeks before his scheduled sentencing, having pleaded guilty to financing the “Bad Newz Kennels” operation and breaking federal laws associated with the set-up, Vick turned himself over to federal authorities Monday.

He still awaits formal sentencing Dec. 10, but a lawyer for the former star quarterback says Vick wants to man up.

“From the beginning, Mr. Vick has accepted responsibility for his actions and his self-surrender further demonstrates that acceptance,” Billy Martin says. “Michael wants to again apologize to everyone (who) has been hurt in this matter, and he thanks all of the people who have offered him and his family prayers and support during this time.”

In other words, Vick wants to man up – and hopefully get a lighter sentence.
