Donald Glover Says Rap Moniker Childish Gambino Isn’t Going Anywhere

The actor-musician confirms he’ll still be creating music under his longtime hip-hop name.

Donald Glover is confirming that his rap moniker, Childish Gambino, will continue to be what he creates music under for the foreseeable future.

Speaking with E! News on the red carpet of the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards, the multi-hyphenate talent clarified a long-standing rumor regarding his music career.

“I’m making music right now. I love it. I’m actually in the studio. I’ve been bringing people in, like secret people, working on little things. I’ve been just making it for fun right now. But soon something will happen. I promise,” Glover said when asked about creating music, before clarifying his previously claims of retiring from music. “That was out in the ethos. You don’t have to worry about that. He’ll be back. He’s here right now.”

Back in 2017, the Atlanta co-creator said he would be retiring his hip-hop alias. At the time, he told HuffPost, “There’s nothing worst than like a third sequel, like a third movie and we’re like, ‘Again?’ You know, I like it when something’s good and when it comes back there’s a reason to come back, there’s a reason to do that.”

It isn’t clear when Childish Gambino will be releasing new music.
