Salli Richardson-Whitfield to Direct New HBO Drama

The upcoming project stars Marvel actor Mark Ruffalo.

Actress and director Salli Richardson-Whitfield has been tapped to join Brad Ingelsby’s upcoming untitled HBO crime drama series starring Academy Award-nominated actor Mark Ruffalo. 

According to, Richardson-Whitefield will direct multiple episodes as well as executive produce. She joins “Hustle” director Jeremiah Zaga, who will shoot the pilot and multiple episodes throughout the season as well as executive produce.

The 56-year-old star rose to prominence following her role in the 1994 Keenen Ivory Wayans action comedy “A Low Down Dirty Shame.” Richardson-Whitfield later appeared in films including “Antwone Fisher,” “Great White Hype” and “I Am Legend.” She’s more recently spent time behind the lens directing television shows, including “Queen Sugar,” “Black-ish” and “The Gilded Age.”
