Gospel Artist Deitrick Haddon Defends Wife Amid Backlash Over ‘Birthday Twerk’

The couple were celebrating the singer’s 50th birthday.

Gospel music artist Deitrick Haddon is giving his followers a lesson on agreeing to disagree.

The “Well Done” musician took to his social media account, addressing critics upset over a video clip that captured his wife, Dominique Mctyer, twerking on the Christian artist during his 50th birthday celebration.

“The next level for the church is to learn to disagree without disrespect,” Haddon wrote in a memo post pinned to the top of his Instagram page on Wednesday, May 24. “Some approve with me dancing in public with my wife, and others don’t, and that’s ok. In the words of the Stylistics, ‘People make the world go ’round.'

Haddon continued with,  “It would be so dope if we could celebrate our differences instead of demonizing everyone that doesn’t think like you.”Haddon signed off, telling his critics, “I still love ya, and there’s nothing you can do about it!”

The clip appeared to drive a divide among his supporters, some of whom said no harm in the video while others felt “that style of dancing should be done in private because he has an image to uphold.”
