A couple of years ago, Lil Wayne and T-Pain were musical bosom buddies, connecting on a number of hit records (“Got Money,” “Can’t Believe It”), and even planning to release a joint album as the duo, T-Wayne. However, things changed when Wayne ran into legal problems, and the collabo LP was left in limbo. After recording almost nine songs together, T-Pain now explains why the project never came to fruition.
“When [Wayne] got into his little trouble, that was right at the peak of when we was like, ‘OK, let’s go. Let’s do this now,’" T-Pain said in an interview with Rap-Up. "He finally had time, then he went to jail."
Since being interrupted by the lengthy bid in Rikers last year, T-Pain said he's come to believe that Weezy has moved on from the project.
“Things happen and I’m pretty sure he’s over the whole idea now. I don’t even be bringing it up to him no more. I’m pretty sure he’s way past that right now. He’s doing big things," he said.
T-Pain's own new album, the long-delayed rEVOLVEr, arrived in stores today.
