Four Blacks Among This Year’s Rhodes Scholars

Four African-American undergraduates were among the 32 U.S. students to win Rhodes Scholarships, marking the second time in the past decade and a half that this has occurred.

Recipients of the scholarships, named for South African mining mogul Cecil John Rhodes, will get $50,000 each for two years and the right to study at Oxford University, England’s oldest and most prestigious institution of higher learning.

 Andre McCall, from Truman State University’ Ugwechi Amadi, an MIT senior; and Darryl Finkton and Jean Junior, both of Harvard College, will join 28 other scholarship winners from the across the United States at Oxford next fall, Blackamericaweb.com reports.
