Were any of these already on your radar?

SZA’s pengame is not to be slept on. With songs like introspective tracks like “Broken Clocks” and “Normal Girl,” the R&B songbird has established a loyal fanbase thanks to her transparency and reliability.

However, when she’s not creating record-breaking songs for herself, she’s helping craft beautiful stories for her industry peers. In honor of SZA’s recent nominations at the upcoming “Soul Train Awards” 2023, hosted by the incomparable Keke Palmer, get familiar with the singer’s pen game and check out five songs she helped write for other artists.

  • “Consideration” by Rihanna feat. SZA

SZA co-wrote and was featured on the opening track of Rihanna's album "Anti" (2016), showcasing her songwriting skills and collaborating with one of music's biggest stars.

  • “Feeling Myself”

The TDE princess contributed to writing this empowering anthem from Nicki Minaj’s third studio album, “The Pinkprint.”

  • “Pretty Little Birds” feat Isaiah Rashad

Outside of rapper and TDE labelmate, Isaiah Rashad, SZA is the sole writer on her single “Pretty Little Birds” from her  2017 debut album “Ctrl.”

  • “Just Sing (Trolls World Tour)”

SZA has also earned herself writing credits in movies. She contributed to the 2020 song “Just Sing (Trolls World Tour)”  from “Trolls World Tour: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.”
