Janet Jackson Supports President Obama on Gay Marriage

Janet Jackson is “pleased” that President Obama endorsed same-sex unions.

Celebrities have come out in droves to support President Barack Obama's recent endorsement of gay marriage, and at a red carpet event late last week Janet Jackson joined their ranks. In an interview with Extra's AJ Calloway, the pop icon smiled at the mention of the president's announcement and suggested it was long overdue.

“He finally came around, didn’t he? He finally came around, good for him,” she said.

Janet said she hadn't had much time to follow the response of her fans, but added "I’m sure they’re very, very pleased.”

Also getting Janet's support these days is an upcoming tour by her surviving brothers in The Jackson Five. Jermaine, Tito, Jackie and Marlon Jackson will kick off The Unity Tour on June 18. Janet said she was planning to make an appearance at some of the shows, but wasn't sure which ones.

“Of course. Of course I am," she said. "Where I don’t know, but I will.” is your #1 source for Black celebrity news, photos, exclusive videos and all the latest in the world of hip hop and R&B music.
