Report: Frank Ocean’s Father Sues Russell Simmons for $142 Million

Singer's dad, Calvin Cooksey, upset by coverage on mogul's website.

Careful what you say about Frank Ocean's daddy. The Channel Orange singer's father, Calvin Cooksey, has filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against Russell Simmons, reportedly, claiming that the Global Grind founder defamed him by calling him a deadbeat dad via the website.

According to TMZ, Cooksey hasn't been part of his son's life since Ocean was 5 years old, and admits as much because of what he says is a good reason, Ocean's "money grubbing mother" kept the two from seeing each other.

Cooksey, who describes himself as a singer, a writer and an inventor, alleges Simmons' site published news of his absence without fact checking, and what's worse, didn't even use his actual name in the reputation-tarnishing post.

He wants $142 million to cover loss of future income.
