Jurors in Chiquita Tate Murder Trial May Hear of Alleged Earlier Violence

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A judge says jurors may hear a 911 call made by a Baton Rouge attorney, more than a year before she was stabbed to death. In that call, she says the man now accused of killing her had beat and choked her.

Thirty-eight-year-old Greg Harris is charged with second-degree murder of 34-year-old Chiquita Tate in her downtown law office on Feb. 19, 2009.

District Judge Trudy White ruled Friday that prosecutors may use evidence of violence that Harris allegedly committed against Tate and two former live-in girlfriends.

Baker police recorded Tate's call in December 2007. She married Harris in February 2008. Her body was found Feb. 20, 2009, after Harris called 911 and flagged down a police officer.

Harris is free on $300,000 bond. No trial date has been set.
