Chaka Khan Becomes Honorary Flower Girl at Granddaughter Daija Jade’s Wedding
Chaka Khan is a true gem, both on and off the stage.
The “I’m Every Woman” singer shared on Instagram that she served as an honorary flower girl at her granddaughter’s wedding.
“A beautiful family moment worth celebrating,” she captioned on her post.
Chaka Khan’s granddaughter, Daija Jade, recently tied the knot - and Chaka was right there to witness the joy, love, and magic of the day. Even more special? Chaka stepped into the role of honorary flower girl for the ceremony. Congratulations to the radiant newlyweds!
You can see two photos, one with Khan walking down in a beautiful white dress holding hands with a young child who appears to be the ring bearer, with the other showing Khan and her granddaughter all smiles with Jade’s husband.
BET.com reported back in 2011 how Khan was awarded custody of Jade, sharing guardianship with her sister Tammy McCrary.
Khan had petitioned to receive full custody of her granddaughter, citing she "assumed on a day-to-day basis the role of the child's parent fulfilling both the child's physical and psychological needs for care and affection,” according to TMZ.
The outlet shared Khan claimed McCray was incapable of caring for her daughter due to her "heavy involvement in drugs."
