2024 NAACP Image Awards:7 Memorable Team-Ups that Showcase Davido's International Appeal

The Nigerian superstar has a ton of collaborations that have helped him reach global domination.

Afrobeats superstar Davido came into this world with international appeal. For over a decade, the Atlanta-born, Nigerian-raised icon has made major moves in Africa and the States to take his sound global, reaching across genres to link up with some of the biggest American artists in the game. From Nas and Lil Baby to Chris Brown and Summer Walker, Davido has many international hits under his belt, all of which have helped him spread African music to millions of fans around the globe.

This year, the singer-songwriter is nominated in several categories at the 55th Annual NAACP Image Awards, including “Outstanding Male Artist” and “Outstanding International Song.” Check out seven memorable collaborations that prove why he’s a worldwide success.

  • “Blow My Mind” feat. Chris Brown

For the lead single of his 2019 “A Good Time” album, Davido tapped Chris Brown to bring their sexy Afrobeats jam “Blow My Mind” to life. The pair shot a video for the match-up, one of a few they have together, which sits at over 94 million views on YouTube.

  • “D & G” feat. Summer Walker

Davido and Summer Walker matched vocal wits on their smooth collaboration “D & G,” also featured on the former’s “A Good Time” album. The London On Da Track and Kiddominant-produced song perfectly fuses R&B and Nigerian pop elements.

  • “Holy Ground” feat. Nicki Minaj

For his heartfelt song “Holy Ground,” off his 2020 album “A Better Time,” Davido enlisted the help of Nicki Minaj, with the two exchanging lyrics about the spiritual safety of their respective lovers. According to the Afrobeats star, the collaboration stemmed from a drunk DM he sent to Minaj at a party.

  • “Risky” feat. Popcaan

Afrobeats and dancehall collided on Davido’s infectious 2019 collaboration “Risky” with Jamaican icon Popcaan. The song finds the pair singing about all the risks they’re willing to take for their loves.

  • “Stand Strong” feat. Sunday Service Choir

Davido leaned on some assistance from the Sunday Service Choir, the gospel group led by Kanye West, to deliver his inspirational collaboration “Stand Strong.” The 2022 single was released ahead of the singer’s fourth studio album, “Timeless.”

  • “Fine Girl” with Wale and Olamide

For Wale’s “Fine Girl” track featured on his 2017 “Shine” album, the rapper tapped into his Nigerian roots and got a slick verse from Davido to boast his beauty anthem. The song also featured fellow Nigerian star Olamide.

  • “U (Juju)” feat. Skepta

Davido switched up his usual pool of collaborators on his song “U (Juju),” this time tagging in British-Nigerian grime artist Skepta to lend a catchy verse on the uptempo track.
