Once upon a time, 21 Savage wore iced-out diamond chains that cost him $125K and bought ex-girlfriends (ex: Amber Rose) diamond jewels for their birthdays. Welp, that was the past, and now 21 says buying expensive jewelry is for the birds.

Back in Feb, the rapper’s manager tweeted, “21 Savage no longer wears jewelry….buying houses..investing in businesses…crypto & youth start ups is what he wanna make cool for young rappers to do.”  All very smart and responsible decisions, but we weren’t sure how invested 21 was in his manager’s tweet.

In a recent interview with Vogue, “Getting Ready With 21 Savage,” it seems as though the ATL rapper has upheld his manager’s comments. 21 further explains why he axed jewelry out of his life

“Everybody wears jewelry. I outgrew it; I’m getting a little wiser and growing. Another reason is because the richest people that I’ve ever met in my life, they’ve never had on jewelry. Every time I meet someone who’s very, very rich, like wealthy, I’ve never seen them with jewelry on. And ever since I’ve been saving money and not spending it on jewelry, I’ve been getting way richer.”

Okrrrttt! Let us hold something, 21. But for real, we never really understood why buying chains that cost more than some people’s houses was a sign of “we made it,” in the rap game. Invest in the coin.
