Babyface To Host ‘Waiting To Exhale’ Soundtrack Listening Party On Mother’s Day
Fresh off of nearly breaking the internet due to his Instagram Live battle with Teddy Riley, megaproducer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds is returning to IG for Mother’s Day.
He will host a listening party for one of most the iconic albums he ever produced, the 1995 soundtrack for the movie Waiting To Exhale.
During an April 28 appearance on The View, Babyface revealed, "There were so many people on Instagram Live that wanted to hear music from the 'Waiting to Exhale' [soundtrack] and so I thought this would be great, Mother’s Day, to play the 'Waiting to Exhale' album, to tell stories, tell how it all happened and talk about the artists.”
Waiting to Exhale: Original Soundtrack Album was a monster success in 1995. Selling over 12 million albums, the soundtrack received seven Grammy nominations and won the Grammy for Best R&B Song for "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)," which was written by Babyface.
The album included classics like Mary J. Blige’s “Not ‘Gon Cry,” “Sittin’ Up In My Room” by Brandy and “Let it Flow” by Toni Braxton, which hit no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Babyface wrote all of the songs on the 16-track album with the exception of Chaka Khan’s cover of the jazz classic “My Funny Valentine.”
