This Could Be Us But You Playin’: Tasha And Lawrence From ‘Insecure’ Were Almost A Real Life Couple

DomiNque Perry tried to shoot her shot.

Fans of the hugely popular HBO series Insecure have formed their own infatuations with the characters and their relationships. Take, for example, Lawrence (Jay Ellis) and Tasha (DomiNque Perry). The two got hot and heavy on-screen on a few occasions, with fans often having a love-hate relationship with the pairing.

However, what if the two took the romance from the show to the real world? According to Perry, she sort of tried to get the ball rolling on this, but it didn't quite work out in her favor.

In an interview with The Shade Files, Perry explained that she tried to "shoot her shot" with Ellis on set, but things didn't go according to plan.

"It was my second day of filming and I always thought Jay Ellis was so fine," she said. "One day I said, 'You know what? I'm going to shoot my shot'.... I remember just staring at him and giving him the googly eyes and he kind of looked at me and was like, 'Why are you looking like that? Are you OK?' When he said that, I picked up my face off of the floor. I never shooted [sic] my shot with Jay Ellis ever again."

Even though she didn't get her way, Perry says the two are still friends.

"I definitely tried. I got shot down, but it's OK," she continued. "Me and Jay are so cool! And you know, it's cool."

Since Perry's interview was posted, her comments began to spread, but she wants to make one thing clear: she was just joking about the encounter.

The actress, who now stars in Black Jesus, told MadameNoire that it was all in good fun.

Wouldn't it have still been interesting, though, to see these two together? We can only imagine, at this point.
