2020 HBCU Graduates Celebrate Their Big Day On TikTok
Even though most of the country is still very much in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, we want to take a moment to honor and celebrate our 2020 HBCU graduates. It may not seem like it now, but you all have a lot to be grateful for and a wide open future with the ability to determine and explore the next phase of their lives.
Former POTUS Barack Obama and our forever First Lady Michelle Obama have both committed to presenting commencement speeches for the country’s graduating high school and college students who will not be able to attend traditional ceremonies. President Obama will kick off the nationwide celebration with the "Show Me Your Walk, HBCU Edition," a two-hour livestream on Saturday, May 16 at 2 PM EST speaking specifically to those students attending historically Black Colleges and Universities who are joining the ranks of proud alumni.
"I've always loved joining commencements-- the culmination of years of hard work and sacrifice," Mr. Obama tweeted on May 5. "Even if we can't get together in person this year, Michelle and I are excited to celebrate the nationwide Class of 2020 and recognize this milestone with you and your loved ones."
Before this amazing day in Black excellence occurs, here are some of the most creative Class of 2020 HBCU grad TikToks we’ve seen so far that’s making us nostalgic for those good, old college days.
