5 Celebrities Who Stunned At The Soul Train Awards In Afros
Don’t call it a comeback, the hairstyle has been hot for years.
Soul Train created a space for us to celebrate our crowns. Episodes featuring aspiring dancers and host Don Cornelius—proudly rocking an afro—a symbol of Black pride—empowered us to reject Eurocentric beauty standards and flaunt our curls and coils confidently.
The music program, which aired from 1971-2006, continues to inspire many of the hairstyles we see today, including on the red carpet. Throughout the years we've spotted celebrities rocking everything from TWAs (teeny weeny afros) to full-blown afros.
In honor of the 2021 Soul Train Awards, which will take place at the World-Famous Apollo in November, here's a look at five un(fro)getable hair moments.
