Mary J. Blige Pays Tribute To D’Angelo And Angie Stone Following Their Deaths
Mary J. Blige is still reeling from the heartbreaking losses of Angie Stone and D’Angelo this year.
In an interview with People, the “Good Morning Gorgeous” singer told the outlet how she was “still shocked and surprised” by their passings, reflecting on working with both legends in the past.
“I just can't believe that both of them are gone,” she expressed.
She continued, saying both artists “were the most beautiful people,” explaining how they were “really nice to work with and to know.”
"D'Angelo was a beautiful, beautiful person," she explained.
"If they let you in, that means you were special because they didn't mess with a lot of people.”
The “Just Fine” singer claimed the “Black Diamond” songstress and the “Voodoo” singer were “very quiet” and “selective” when it came to who they allowed in their orbit and who they decided to work with But she reflected on how “grateful” she was to have the opportunity to be around them.
The “Black Messiah” crooner’s family released a statement to the outlet, expressing how “heartbroken” they were to share the news and how he has “dimmed his light for his family” during his time on earth.
The “Brown Sugar” star passed away after a private battle with pancreatic cancer at age 51, according to a report by BET.com.
The “Wish I Didn’t Miss You” singer passed away in March at age 63 due to a collision in Alabama shortly after a performance, BET.com reported.
The “Take Me As I Am” songstress recently released her latest film, “For My Fans,” which was released for two nights only on November 5th and 8th expressing how it was made “for her fans” and sharing how if it wasn’t for them, her career wouldn’t of thrived the way it has.
